Retention benchmarks, which make a departure unlikely, for the same role rise to $110,000 in Kenya, $143,000 in South Africa, $99,000 in Nigeria and $93,500 in Egypt.
In some cases, a professional can receive a premium rate, an exception to retain rare talent. We also list salary rates for human resource and research leaders.

Premium rates for operation leaders are $214,500 in South Africa, $165,000 in Kenya, $148,500 in Nigeria and $140,250 in Egypt. The difference between threshold and retention levels ranges from $25,500 in Egypt to $39,000 in South Africa.
In HR leadership, threshold rates are $58,500 in Nigeria, $65,000 in Kenya, $84,500 in South Africa and $55,250 in Egypt. Retention benchmarks for these countries rise to $120,000 in Kenya, $156,000 in South Africa, $108,000 in Nigeria and $102,000 in Egypt.
The premium rates extend to $190,000 in Kenya, $247,000 in South Africa, $171,000 in Nigeria and $161,500 in Egypt. The increase from threshold to retention benchmarks ranges from $46,750 in Egypt to $71,500 in South Africa.
In research leadership, threshold rates are $42,500 in Egypt, $50,000 in Kenya, $65,000 in South Africa and $45,000 in Nigeria. Retention benchmarks are $75,000 in Kenya, $97,500 in South Africa, $67,500 in Nigeria and $63,750 in Egypt.

Premium rates, though not directly comparable with the other benchmarks, provide an upper limit for each role and country. They range from $93,500 in Egypt to $247,000 in South Africa across all the roles.
