African healthtech companies providing care at home and helping patients pay for treatment attracted backing in September. Healthcare Rising tracked two investment rounds and a $250,000 prize, alongside an acquisition giving French digital health insurer Alan an established network in Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire.
Kenya’s Turaco secured investment to support affordable insurance, while Egypt’s Anees Health raised seed funding to expand coordinated home care. Their rounds remain undisclosed. Investment site Africa: The Big Deal estimates them at $500,000 and $100,000 respectively. Cameroon’s Waspito won the $250,000 prize.
Alan’s acquisition of Tanel adds a different route to growth. The Senegalese company brings an existing network of more than 1,200 pharmacies and healthcare providers. The companies aim to reach more than one million people across Africa by 2030.
